It’s been so sunny this winter, and I’ve been grateful for the beautiful days we’ve had, though I do still miss at least a light dusting of snow to accompany the colder months. During winter, my skin tends to be especially dry, particularly my hands and lips. One of my favourite ways to support dry skin and help ward off circulating viruses is using a humidifier at home. I run mine every night in the winter. I’ve been loving our Carepod humidifier because it has a stainless steel interior and is very easy to clean and disinfect. This is important, as many humidifiers can develop mold when they are difficult to clean. For my lips, the new Alumier LipBoost has been a lovely addition. It is a peptide-rich, hydrating lip emulsion that absorbs quickly and is not occlusive like a traditional balm. I will also be using Lip Boost post-lip filler treatments for a soothing finish. My favourite winter hand treatment is Weleda Skin Food. I am all about clean skincare that truly works, and Weleda is a trusted European brand available at most health food stores. Skin Food is ultra-rich and a bit greasy initially, so I apply it just before bed, but it does wonders for very dry hands. As a quick clinic update, for patients completing a series of chemical peels, we will be introducing the next step up, Alumier Glow and Power Glow peels, available as of February.
