WHAT IS BOTOX COSMETIC®?
Botox is a prescribed medication made of botulinum toxin, a cosmetically-approved form of Clostridium botulinum. Botox functions by blocking neuromuscular transmission through decreased acetylcholine release. This temporarily paralyzes and weakens the injected muscle. A small dose is injected when Botox is used for cosmetic purposes to prevent any adverse effects.
Botox was approved by the FDA in 2002 to treat moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows temporarily. The regions for Botox treatments have expanded from frown lines to the frontalis (forehead region), mentalis (chin region), crow’s feet (eye regions), and masseter (jaw muscle) plus we can even treat migraines using Botox.
Botox is a non-invasive rejuvenation method that does not cause much pain, with not a lot of downtime and has proven results.

Botox Results and Duration
The results of Botox will start to appear 2-3 days after the injection, but it will take about 1 week before the maximum effects are noticeable.
Results generally last 3-6 months, but everyone is different. Patients can decide when to receive the injection again when they notice fine lines reappear.
